Songs of Lao by Kenro Izu

A Benefit Photography Exhibition for Lao Friends Hospital for Children

Renowned Japanese photographer Kenro Izu was capturing the ancient temples of Angkor when he had a chance encounter in a Cambodian hospital. He witnessed a 7-year-old girl die because her father couldn’t afford two dollars for medicine. That moment became the spark behind Friends Without A Border, an organization dedicated to bringing free compassionate medical care to children in need.

In 1999, Angkor Hospital for Children opened in Cambodia and later Lao Friends Hospital for Children in 2015.

What began as a photographer’s response to tragedy has become a lasting legacy of healing and hope for thousands of children across Southeast Asia.

We invite you to experience the journey through Kenro’s lens to see how art truly can make a difference. All proceeds from the exhibition will go directly to Lao Friends Hospital for Children.
