The Luang Prabang Half Marathon is an annual charity race benefiting Lao Friends Hospital for Children. The race takes place on Sunday, October 22 in the beautiful and historic UNESCO heritage town of Luang Prabang, Laos, weaving through golden temples and by the serene water banks of the Mekong and Nam Kham Rivers.
In 2016, the race welcomed almost 1,000 runners representing 34 countries including Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and the US, raising USD$53,543 to support the provision of free medical care at Lao Friends Hospital for Children. This year we expect to welcome over 1,5000 runners to share the beauty of Luang Prabang and raise awareness and support for our efforts to improve the health of children in Laos.
The race features 21K, 14K and 7K race courses, and starts soon after the monks have completed their alms giving procession, making for an engaging and fun day for all runners.
