Friends staff and the Luang Prabang community in Laos came together to celebrate the ground breaking ceremony of Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) on Tuesday, November 26th, 2013.
The ceremony marks the beginning of construction on the new pediatric hospital that will be located on the grounds of the Luang Prabang Provincial Hospital. LFHC is slated to open in the spring of 2015 and will include inpatient & outpatient departments, 24 beds, emergency room, intensive care unit, operation theater, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, lecture rooms & library to teach pediatric medicine to the future leaders of the hospital, kitchen & laundry for families visiting the hospital, and a vegetable garden to teach families how to prepare nutritious meals.
