When we receive donations of medicine, equipment, supplies, or educational materials, it means that we can put more donor dollars to work in providing critical patient care. Two crucial rules we must follow when accepting donated medications and equipment are:
- We cannot accept medicine that is past its expiration date. Medications and supplies must have at least an 18-month expiration date. This is a government regulation to which we must adhere, without exception. Where donations are made from within Cambodia or Laos, validity and acceptable standard of the item(s) will be assessed on case by case basis.
- Supplies should be suitable for a pediatric hospital, and all equipment MUST be in good working order. We cannot accept equipment that is old, obsolete, or has outlived its expected life span. Our resources to maintain and repair old equipment are extremely limited.
