Achievement in Medicine Award: Kazumi Akao

We are excited to announce that Kazumi Akao, Clinical Outreach Coordinator at LFHC and representative of our sister organization in Japan, Friends Without A Border Japan, has received the 45th Iryo Koro-sho (Achievement in Medicine Award) for her work at Lao Friends Hospital for Children and Angkor Hospital for Children.

The award, presented by The Yomiuri Shinbun, recognizes Japanese medical practitioners who have made long-term contributions to healthcare in Japan and developing countries overseas.

For over 18 years, in addition to mentoring hundreds of local health care professionals, Kazumi has made an incredible difference on the lives of thousands of children and families in Southeast Asia. We are extremely happy to see her work and dedication recognized!
